There are plenty of reasons why Prague is such a popular vacation spot for visitors world-wide. This modern, foreigner-friendly metropolis offers rich history and culture in any shape or form you can think of: theaters, museums, galleries, concerts… If that didn’t persuade you to visit the Czech capital this summer, add a plethora of leisure activities, shopping options and spots to have an excellent drink, all that for a very reasonable price. Do we have your attention now? Good! Let’s take a Prague nightlife tour together.

Where to drink

Good news: in the Czech Republic, you can drink yourself under the table without spending your monthly wage. Beer is told to be cheaper than water here, which is probably why Czechs are the highest beer consumers in the world. Or it might just be because its quality and taste are unparalleled! For a locally crafted pint, it is best that you visit one of the traditional pubs, such as U Vejvodů, U Medvídků, Pivovar Marina, U Kalicha, or Zlý časy.

Of course, there is more than beer to Prague. Czech Republic is also famous for its white wines or the traditional Absinthe, served the French way with water, or as a shot, mixed with caramelized sugar. Taste it in the charming Hemingway Bar located in the Old Town. The atmosphere will take you all the way back to America of the prohibition era. Do you fancy something more exotic? Head to the Aloha Cocktail Bar and enjoy the atmosphere of sun-soaked Hawaii. The interior will remind you of Tiki bars and together with a selection of sweet or sour cocktails, soft lights and pleasant rhythms, it provides a recipe for a lovely evening.

Where to party

Prague is one of the cities that never sleep. Its clubbing scene offers plenty of options to dance all night, whether you enjoy house, techno, pop, oldies or indie music. You’ve probably already heard of the famous Karlovy Lázně, the largest club in Europe, or Roxy. These days, one of the most popular hot spots in the city centre is Hangar Music Club, a two-storey dance club that also features a cocktail bar and restaurant. All-in-one, wrapped up in a unique interior style inspired by the golden age of aviation. Another great tip is Chapeau Rouge, where you can choose from three different floors, each with its own live show or DJs.

Where to see a concert

Live music in Prague is a huge phenomenon. The choice is so large that it’s difficult to pick a favorite! If you’re a fan of sophisticated entertainment, you might want to visit the Jazz Dock on the riverbank, or the Ungelt Jazz & Blues Club, located in an underground tunnel near the Old Town Square. For pop hits, head to the Lucerna Music Bar just next to Wenceslas Square. Rock Cafe delivers exactly what its name promises: a selection of rock, metal and alternative shows and two well-stocked bars. What about independent music, you might ask? On the premises of an old factory, the MeetFactory in Prague 5 will satisfy your tastes. Another great choice is the industrial Cross Club, providing a mix of cultures, genres and fashion styles you might not get to see elsewhere.

Where to go for a walk

What if you’re a night owl, but not a party animal?! Don’t worry, even sightseeing can be easily done at night in Prague. Most of the famous buildings will be well-lit for you to admire as you take a stroll along the Vltava river. In fact, why not start the night with a dinner cruise? After that, venture into the streets alone, or choose one of the night tours on offer. That’s right, you an even experience an exciting Ghost tour through the dark historical town! In summer, when the nights are short, we can only recommend a walk across Charles Bridge at sunrise, when it’s most beautiful and devoid of the usual crowds.
